Federation Consultation
Horsted Schools and Swingate Primary School have been working very closely together since January with Steve Geary as Executive Headteacher. Both schools have greatly benefited from this close partnership although, as you know, this is currently only a temporary arrangement.
The benefits have been overwhelmingly mutual. The schools have carried out curriculum enhancement together, EYFS development, safeguarding support, back office support, as well as the more day to day benefits of sharing resources and teaching expertise. Without the use of the Swingate mini bus it would have been very difficult for Horsted pupils to attend their swimming lessons this year and last year.
To continue this beneficial partnership, discussions between the Governing Bodies of the two schools have taken place and we are proposing a Federation between the schools. This will formalise the partnership between the two schools and allow staff to be appointed on a permanent basis. This will also allow both schools to continue to work together but on a formal and permanent basis. This is in line with Medway Local Authority and the Governments national education policy in terms of the desire for schools to work closely with each other in a formal structure.
Please find the documents below for further information or collect a paper copy from both school offices.
