Key Information
PE – Both Year 6 classes have PE on a Wednesday afternoon. Both classes will have an indoor and an outdoor session during the afternoon and children should come to school dressed in their PE kits which will be suitable for both activities:
- Indoor Kit: White t-shirt and black shorts, trainers. Children will be required to remove their shoes and socks for dance and gymnastics.
- Outdoor Kit: White t-shirt, black shorts and trainers. Weather permitting, we aim to go outside each week so in the colder months we also advise that children wear a plain tracksuit with optional base layers and gloves.

- Spellings - Children to complete their spelling homework each week which is set on a Friday and is due to be completed by the following Friday.

Children will be asked to make up any of the home learning time that they have not completed in LCU. Please ensure that they complete their weekly assignments.

Term One
History
This term the Year 6 children have been using census reports to find out about people from the past. This culminated in a project where they needed to use artefacts, iOS maps and census reports from Cliffe Woods in the 1800s to investigate a man called John Moore.
Science
In Science, Year 6 have been investigating natural selection, as well as continuing to learn how to work scientifically. They used different tweezer shapes to pick up seeds, to investigate which of their ‘bird beaks’ would be the best for feeding on the smaller seeds.
First Aid
This term the children had a first aid workshop where our first aid volunteer, Michelle, taught the children how they could assist in an emergency situation. They practiced putting patients into the recovery position and learnt how to perform CPR on a dummy.
